who are you
at the depths of your being?
this sense of wonder
can be quite freeing.
yet, it can also spiral us
out of control
who am i?
will i ever know?
so far from ourselves
we tend to roam.
we avoid uncertainty,
uncomfortable with the unknown.
this discomfort has found us
on a grand scale
each of us asking:
how will we prevail?
there’s something about
this sitting and waiting
forcing connection to ourselves,
a collective form of meditating.
so much time to think,
our thoughts spiral every day
one moment, the world is ending;
the next, everything’s gonna be okay.
this time is helping us
to reveal our cracks
to dig really deep,
revealing our past.
we’ve tried to cover up
our imperfections before.
our cracks and pain
we were conditioned to ignore.
it’s much easier to avoid
the pain, sadness, and hurt
as moving through discomfort
can be so much work.
grief entangled with love
as we move through each day
we simply can’t push
our feelings away.
in denying our truth,
our feelings grow stronger
they bubble inside
‘til they can’t wait any longer.
please, don’t push down your feelings
they need to be free
you can share them with family, friends,
or share the burden with me.
this is what brings us now
to a tight embrace,
uniting us on earth
as one human race.
our collective grief has
never been greater
and the holes in our hearts
feel like a crater.
yet, we are so much more
than we want to believe!
there’s light in you
and there’s light in me.
our light surrounds us
each and every day.
though sometimes it feels lost,
it always finds a way.
building up walls
to protect your heart
really and truly
kept us apart.
if you let your cracks open,
accepting every piece of you,
that’s when the light can get out,
and your heart can shine through.
our connection with each other
has never been more clear
it’s beautiful, isn’t it?
even through all the fear.
so, who are you
at the depths of your being?
you are darkness,
you are light,
and both of them are fleeting.
sending you peace and love
for today and tomorrow
whether your flooded with
joy or sitting with sorrow.
With love and gratitude,
Kristen ॐ
